Water and Development

Water is being unevenly distributed around the world.  “12 percent of the world’s population uses 85 percent of its water, and these 12 percent do not live in the Third World.”  One-third of the planet is already scarce of short of water.  Indian scientist Vandana Shiva, noted that the water crisis that has been occuring in that last two decades is purely human- created.  The water crisis is not a water shortage crisis but more of a water management crisis.  As private companies are coming to own water corporations, the poor are being shut out and supplied with hardly any water resources.  Two in three people that are lacking in clean water live on less that two dollars a day which concludes to about 660 million people.  Water is becoming more limited as the wants and desires of certain people continues to escalate.  But what does that mean for the billions of people that are trying to get just a sip of water today?
