In June 2011, Nevada Geothermal Power and Iceland America Energy came together to experiment on a new plant in Nevada. “The Imperial Valley is one of the world’s premier geothermal areas with highly productive, high temperature geothermal resources occurring over a large area in an active structural belt.” Because many states, and countries, are suffering from carbon dioxide emissions, the geothermal power plants provide a cleaner system to create energy. Clean, renewable power has become a necessity in many states, example California.
Iceland America and Reykjavik Energy have helped by investing money into the program. CEO Brian Fairbank believes that the Nevada Geothermal Plant and the Iceland partners will all benefit immensly from the synergies.
