25 primate species in Africa, Asia reported on brink of extinction from deforestation, hunting

It was recently announced by researchers that 25 species of monkeys, langurs, lemurs and gorillas from all across Africa, Asia, and South America are on the brink of extinction. They explained that this was mostly due to deforestation of their natural habitats and illegal trafficking of the primates. This update was released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature at the United Nations’ Convention on Biological Diversity. It was stated that while previous primate protection initiatives have been successful, new ones are needed to address these developments.
