Farmers are starting to reduce their water usage. The midwest U.S. (especially Kansas) are still suffering from a drought. The ogallala Aquifer is one of the largest subterranean water sources but it is being depleted. This aquifer will only be able to support farmlands in Kansas and Texas for another decade or two. On top of this, farmers have been pumping more water out of the aquifer due to the drought. If water continues being used the way it is now, irrigated agriculture may come to an end. Farmers are in agreement that a change must be made but it is unclear how to make this change.
