Breathing in Beijing: Coping With China’s Smog

This article deals with the extremely high levels of air pollution in Beijing. Levels of pollutants in Beijing are so large that they are often classified as “Beyond Index.” Indeed, these readings have been described as “terrifying” and even “postapocalyptic.” However, this environmental issue is not limited to the city of Beijing. A recent image of the Earth from outer space shows such pollution spreading across all of the eastern China. Families in this area have had to resort to wearing masks and purchasing air purifiers for their homes.
