China: Foreign Tourism Falls, and Smog May Be One Reason

One of the world’s most popular travel destination is experiencing a sharp decline in the amount of tourists this year.  The China National Tourism Administration states that this decline could be due to the smog, the terrible economy, a stronger Chinese currency and the bird flu.  Franco Ilic of the travel agency Studiosus in Munich states that “All the news which is coming from China concerning the non-touristic things are bad, frankly speaking.”  China is one of the top three most popular destinations for tourists, but if the smog continues to increase and the economy does not get better, China my lose its tourist industry.
