Illegal Fires Set in Indonesia Cause Smog Problem

There have been a widespread of wildfires in Indonesia, but the funny thing is that these fires have been started purposely. They are made to clear the land for palm oil companies. Palm oil is used in manufacturing cosmetics, soaps, pharmaceuticals, and industrial products. However, what has been noticed is that this type of “slash-and-burn” agricultural has increased the amount of smog. “A measurement of over 400 is said to be life-threatening to sick and elderly people.” Thus, it is now illegal to start fires in Indonesia.
