Spain Alters Environment Law to Speed Up Energy Projects

A new law in Spain as been passed stating that authorities only have six months to decide whether or not certain energy projects should or should not be permitted. the law was originally passed to prevent cases from being stuck in court for years with no progress. Some state that this may make it easier for contractors to get approval on their building projects and may take a detrimental affect on environmental protection. If the time is not properly used to defend the environment this could be taking a step backwards from progress that has already been made. “While Spain’s new law regulates industries from steel to agriculture, its most notable impact may be on oil and gas exploration in one of Europe’s most energy-deficient countries.”
