Plants that Practice Genetic Engineering

A lot of times, when talking about genetic engineering, people say it is unnatural but recently plants have been genetically engineering themselves without the help of scientists. Scientists discovered a fern that acquired a gene for sensing light from a plant called hornwort. Now these ferns are able to live without sun, in dark, shady forests.
