New Reports from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) indicate that Americans will face the risk of having to adapt to a 70 percent increase in unhealthy summertime ozone by 2050. While Ozone in the atmosphere helps absorb solar radiation, ozone near sea level creates unhealthy living conditions for humans that can aggravate respiratory conditions and create them as well. These rises in ozone levels are due to the burning of greenhouse gases, the reactionary creation of volatile compounds created by plants at higher temperatures, and methane emissions. Ozone increases will not only harm and create health problems of Americans, it will also damage regional ecosystems.
