Dead Birds in Gulf

The Deepwater Horizon oil rig blew in the Gulf Coast of Mexico fifty miles from land. After first responders searched almost 40,000 square miles, over 3,000 dead birds were found. Many say that there are far more than 3,000 which have not been accounted for. Scientists are trying to figure out how much damage was caused from the oil spill. They have figured out that over 800,000 birds have been killed from the result of oil spills. A scientist commented that this is “really off the charts”. Many environmental scientists are worried about the safety of birds near these oil rigs.
