New scientific breakthrough includes the making of artificial trees. As we know, the carbon emission rate is so high that there aren’t enough trees to really fix this problem. Trees inhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This process is called a carbon sink. Science departments all around the country are working on ways to create carbon sinks without trees. At Arizona State University, lab researches have created artificial trees to do this. In Canada, a group of people created a system of fans that have a special absorbent liquid that traps the carbon dioxide. These devices aren’t ready for mass distribution, the video says, but there is promise.
