Pollution

The best way to protect the Earth and its people is to stop creating pollution in the first place – “Pollution should be prevented or reduced at its source, whenever possible.” At Palmer Trinity School, we emphasize in pollution prevention that is reducing or eliminating waste at the source by modifying processes, promoting the use of non-toxic or less-toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques, and re-using materials rather than putting them into the waste stream.

By consuming and throwing away less, we reduce the need to handle, treat, and dispose of waste. Many waste prevention efforts, such as two-sided printing and using e-mail in place of printed copies, are inexpensive and simple to implement, often involving only a change in attitude or work procedures. Other forms of waste prevention include:

  • Purchasing durable, long-lasting materials
  • Using products that are free of toxic materials
  • Conserving water
  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Implementing recycling on campus

Working with the school community, Sustainability at PTS implements projects to help green our campus, promote environmental awareness and carry out our mission to protect the environment.
